The GB surely are not these financial wizards that dream up the schemes and financial deceptions are they? I tend to think that those behind the curtain that is behind the curtain are the real power now. Who's playing who? I just don't see the GB being clever enough to continually keep up the ruse of power without someone VERY clever pulling their strings.
I've had this discussion several times with someone that says it's ALL about the power. I think otherwise. Or more to the point, there are two camps at work. One for power being controlled by one after the money. Ah, what the hey! Maybe I'm way off base?

What is the HIDDEN purpose of the Watchtower corporation?
by Terry inwhy does the average man or woman on the street only have a vague awareness of who jehovah's witnesses are and what they stand for?
isn't it weird they know next to nothing after over a hundred years of door to door work???.
ask yourself why this has been such an ineffective ministry.. one actor, tom cruise, has raised more awareness about his own religion (scientology) than all the watchtower magazines placed at a million households.

BELIEF: the tricky secret behind BELIEVING
by Terry inin certain primitive societies it is believed that dancing brings rain.
this belief stems from the fact somebody (long, long ago) was dancing when rain broke out.
the next time there was a drought, dancing was begun.

First rock concert
by JK666 ini have recently talked with other members on jwd about the first time they went to a concert.
it was interesting the different choices of artists, and the age we were when we finally went to one.. my first was after i got my driver's license, so i was 16 years old.
i went to see a concert with black oak arkansas, foghat, and montrose (when sammy hagar was just a pup).

was anyone actually proud and happy to be spreading the word(ministry)
by looloo ini can only think of one person who actually seemed to have "joy in her heart "on the min when i studied , and even the dubs used to hate being put with this person, it all seems so obvious now that it has nothing to do with a love for god , but doing whats expected of you

There was a time that I really enjoyed talking to others about the "truth" but I was just learning myself and was under some odd notion that those who ran the WT were essentially honest and reasonable folk. I know, you can quit laughing now. We were all naive once or twice. Problem was that I soon began to question things and well, once that happens you're in your own mind spin and trying to convince others of things you can't understand or explain gets put on the backmost burner. Then you wind up here.

1914 and 1919 have to go!
by Mickey mouse ini was reading an interesting thread in the "best of" sub forum about how the wbts are referring to 1914 less and less in the literature.
this thread was from 2001 (would love to paste the link here but i have serious technical difficulties with this site .
i definitely see the society using the "silent dropping" technique referenced by ray franz and expect to see 1914 discounted completely in the near future.

I'm not up on the history of Obves so I have a simple question. You state that 2011 is your "next" prediction for the end. Have you had previous predictions for the end? If so, why did they not....nevermind the explanation part. :)

I don't have any gifts. I'm not allowed. I did trip over an ottoman once just like the opening of The Dick Van Dyke Show. One time event though.

I think I've seen the name BeelzaDub. It just has a certain ring to it. Funny names are the best.
